It’s always a blast being on set with my dear friend Robin Roberts on Good Morning America. Last week we shared recipes that impact our energy levels throughout the day that may also boost our metabolism.
One thing to mention is that there is no single miracle food. Good nutrition and the benefits that come with it happen over time – a cumulative effect!
We received so many great questions about what we featured and the recipes that we thought it would be a great idea to recap and share them below.
- Matcha Overnight Oats
This breakfast provides lots of fiber, sustainable energy, will keep you full for hours, and has ingredients that may boost your metabolism (a win-win!)
Recipe
Combine in a jar:
- 3/4 cup unsweetened soy milk (or other plant-based milk)
- 1/2 cup sprouted rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon organic Matcha powder (grade A)
- Sliced caramelized bananas or fruit of choice
Place ingredients (except for the fruit) into a jar. Stir well. Add fruit to the jar now or place over top when serving. Refrigerate overnight. Enjoy!
- Easiest Black Bean Chili
Sometimes we get to lunch and dinner and feel like we’re too busy to make a meal. This is a meal that is so easy, you will have it on autopilot in no time. It’s super comforting and filling – and it literally takes 5 minutes to throw 6 ingredients together in a pot and you’re done! The addition of my Tex Mex Power Blend dramatically increases both the flavor and anti-inflammatory properties of this chili.
Recipe:
INGREDIENTS
- 1 tablespoon avocado or olive oil
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 2 red or orange bell peppers, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Beller Nutrition Tex Mex Power Spice Blend
- 1.5 cooked black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup tomato sauce
DIRECTIONS
- Heat avocado oil in a saucepot over medium-high heat.
- Add onion to the pot and sauté 3 minutes. Stir in bell peppers and sauté 3 minutes.
- Stir in spice blend and sauté 1 minute to toast the spices.
- Stir in black beans and tomato sauce. Bring up to a simmer, reduce heat to low, and let simmer 8 minutes, or until peppers are tender. Add salt and pepper to taste and top with cilantro or toppings of choice.
- Spiced Choco-Latte
A midday pick-me-up – a semi-sweet treat that provides a nice boost of energy and has some mild metabolism-boosting effects. Cacao contains antioxidant-rich polyphenols and may help reduce cravings. The Cinnapeel Spicer Power blend contains Ceylon Cinnamon (natural sweetness), ginger, which evidence suggests may help with weight loss, and granulated orange peel (incredible antioxidant properties).
Recipe
In a blender, combine:
- 2 cups plant-based milk
- 2 dates (pitted)
- 1 tbsp Cacao Powder
- 1 tsp Beller Nutrition Cinnapeel Spicer blend
- 1 shot espresso (optional)
Place ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Heat in a saucepan over low to medium heat.
Bring to a simmer until warm. Divide among mugs. Enjoy!
