How to Make Vegetables Taste Good - For Real
How to Make Vegetables Taste Good - For Real

Skip The Heavy Sauces & Use Organic Spices To Transform Veggies Into Power Foods

A lot of people turn to heavy sauces or dressings to keep veggies interesting. But did ya know you can turn bland veggies to in-demand without adding calories? Spices can do that and even more. They add amazing flavor, all while massively upgrading the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of your veggies. Below are some of my favorite ways to give veggies a glow-up.

Crank Up the Flavor (and Function) of Roasted Veggies

When I’m choosing seasoning for roasted vegetables, I like to pair spice and veggie combos that deliver both flavor and function, such as:

  • Brussels sprouts + a few pinches of paprika, turmeric, pepper, cayenne and a squeeze of lemon. This combo takes Brussels Sprouts from zero to zapper with an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory upgrade. For a savory-sweet twist, add cumin, cinnamon, paprika and pepper.

  • Cauliflower + a few pinches of my Everything Savory Power Spice Blend. My kids love this combo. Each spice in Everything Savory has research-supported cancer-fighting and anti-inflammatory effects. Bonus: Everything Savory includes cayenne. Cayenne’s main compound, capsaicin, may help reduce cancer cell growth and metastasis when paired with the glucosinolates naturally found in cauliflower.

  • Sweet potatoes + a pinch of organic Ceylon cinnamon. Cinnamon balances the natural sugars of sweet potatoes with warmth and spice, and may help support blood sugar levels.

Give Salad Dressings a Flavor Makeover

A lot of people don’t know you can add spices to salad dressings. It’s a great way to keep the flavor interesting and dramatically elevate the nutritional value of salads. Here are some of my favorite spices to sprinkle in salad dressings:

  • Vegitude Power Spice Blend — Sprinkle in a dash of attitude with my tasty blend that features granulated garlic, granulated turmeric, black pepper, parsley and onion. On top of the amazing taste, it’s expertly crafted for cancer risk reduction and Spice Synergy.

  • Sumac — Sumac adds a tangy, earthy flavor without salt. It’s rich in antioxidant phytochemicals and may even help improve the action of our body’s natural antioxidant enzymes. This can help protect DNA from damage, which may help reduce cancer risk.

  • Black pepper — Not only does black pepper add a little kick, but it may enhance our body’s digestive and transportation enzymes. Black pepper increases blood flow to the gastrointestinal tract to help with nutrient absorption and slows down the breakdown and elimination of certain healthy compounds.

Rotate Spices to Banish Boredom
If you’re trying to eat more vegetables, taste variety is key. Be sure to rotate between spices to change up the flavor and nutrient profile.
